What to expect

the atmosphere

My in-home newborn sessions are all about comfort and ease. We’ll be in your home, where you and your baby are most comfortable. This allows for a natural and intimate setting, perfect for capturing those genuine, tender moments. There’s no need to stress about traveling or packing up all of baby’s essentials.

the session flow

We’ll take things slow and easy. Newborns have their own schedules, and we’ll work around feeding, changing, and soothing as needed. Expect the session to last between 2 to 3 hours, giving us plenty of time to capture a variety of shots without feeling rushed.

Preparing your home

Don’t worry, you’re not expected to do a full spring clean before your session!

light and space

My in-home newborn sessions are all about comfort and ease. Natural light is our best friend. I’ll be looking for the best-lit areas in your home, so think about rooms with plenty of windows. It’s also helpful to have some space cleared in these areas, but don’t worry – I’ll help with arranging and moving things around if needed.

Note: I bring a posing bean bag with me as well as blankets and some clip-on sheer curtains (if the light from the window is too bright).

temperature

Newborns are most comfortable when it’s warm. Consider setting your heater a bit higher than usual, around 25°C. This helps keep your baby cozy and relaxed, especially if we’re doing some shots with minimal clothing. I will also bring a small portable heater with me.

What to wear

Keep it simple and comfortable and most importantly, wear something you feel confident in.

for baby

Simple is best. Soft, neutral-coloured onesies, swaddles, or just a nappy can make for beautiful photos. I will bring a small selection of outfits, wraps and blankets with me if you’d like to use them.

for parents and siblings

Coordinate in soft, neutral tones that complement each other. Think whites, creams and pastels. Avoid bold patterns or logos to keep the focus on your connections. However, if colour and patterns are your thing - go for it! Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable and confident in.

During the session

During newborn sessions your baby sets the pace, you’ll never feel rushed.

feeding and soothing

Your baby’s comfort is the priority. We’ll take breaks as needed for feeding, changing, and soothing. Don’t worry if your baby is fussy – that’s completely normal, and we’ll capture those moments too.

family interaction

I’ll guide you through some gentle poses, but I’m also looking for those candid, unscripted moments – a sweet kiss on the forehead, a loving gaze, or a little yawn. The goal is to capture your family’s connection.
